If you are wondering are laundry pods a good buy, then this article will help you see the light.
Are Laundry Pods a Good Buy?
Pods may appear to be a good buy because the container is larger, and usually the number of pacs on the bottle are more. However, the truth is that laundry pods are much more expensive than a bottle of liquid detergent.
When you see 60 PACS of pods and only 58 LOADS of liquid it seems like you are getting more for your money. The truth is, the liquid label shows the max number of regular (The lowest line on the image below) washes that can be gotten.
On the other hand, the pods label shows the number of pods that are in the container. Keep in mind, they can’t get as many pods in a container as they can liquid. Therefore, the number of pods appears to be more than the number of washes so your brain says aha, this is a better deal!
- 60 pods for $13.62* will wash 20 FULL loads = 68 cents per FULL load
- 88 oz of liquid for $7.97* will wash 22 FULL loads = 36 cents per FULL Load
So basically you are paying for convenience when you buy pods verses liquid.
The Key Is Measuring Correctly
A FULL load will take appr 4 fl oz of liquid detergent. So if you get an 88oz bottle of detergent, you’ll be able to do 22 FULL loads. However most people will use twice that amount because they fill to the top of the cap for a Full load. Below we’ve marked the inside cup lines onto the outside of the cap so that you could see the difference. Proper measuring of liquid detergent will give you the biggest savings on your liquid laundry detergent. Be sure to use the lines inside your laundry detergent’s cap properly
