Using Laundromats is really such a convenient and time saving way to get the laundry done. What many people don’t realize is that by using quality establishments that offer laundry facilities can actually be good for the environment.
Tips and hints for becoming environmentally savvy at the Laundromats
- Look for Laundromats that have commercial front end load washing machines. Quite often these are designed so they hold larger loads. So this means having to use fewer machines which take up water and hydro. These types of washers usually require smaller amounts of detergents so you are creating a double benefit here with less soap in one machine and using less machines.
- Commercial washers that are found at good quality Laundromats have the strength and ability to get clothes much cleaner. This means that you can rely on cold water to get the same desired results that you may normally have to use hot water for. So again this is means less utilities being used because there isn’t the demand for the power to heat the water.
- If you are taking your own laundry supplies with you then make sure to take some time shopping for them, especially when you know you are going to be using them in the commercial machines. Look for those that are environmentally friendly, perhaps some that are designed for front end washers, and of course will perform in cold water.
- Once people are finished with the dryers they tend to forget to clean out the lint screens before they leave. Make it a habit to check this area of the dryer when you go to use it and clean it out if necessary. Plugged up lint screens tend to make the dryer work harder and you may find that you have to run the dryer longer to get your clothes completely dry.
